11 March 2008 Enrolments open — all intakes

Enrolments are being accepted for all intakes currently. Enrol now to ensure you get the place you desire, as places are limited in each intake, for both the fulltime onsite course and the party-time online course.

Refer to the details available under Course Dates and Fees.

If you are unsure about anything, you can also contact Course/Enrolment Enquiries for further information.

11 March 2008 Only two onsite blocks

For the convenience of trainees and employers, the onsite requirements for the online course have been reduced to two blocks — a two-week (12 day) legal practice block early in the course and a one and a half-week (9 day) litigation block at the end of the course. The number of weekdays involved is just 17.

11 March 2008 Summer Schools

Full time Onsite Summer Schools (Intake 3)

Summer schools commence on 01 December 2008 and will finish on 13 March 2009 (Dunedin, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland). There will then be a two week break from 21 December 2008 - 4 January 2009. All summer schools will recommence on 05 January 2009.

Part time Online Summer Schools (Intake 6D)

We are also offering a part time online summer school option at all of our five centres. These commences on 8 December 2008 and will finish on 2 May 2009. There will then be a two week break from 21 December 2008 - 5 January 2009.

For further information regarding summer school courses, refer to the details available under Course Dates and Fees.

You can also contact Course/Enrolment Enquiries for further information.

Why do a summer school course?

Completing a summer school course will enable you to complete Profs at the earliest point in time in the new year, well placed for entering the job market. It will also mean you can also experience the benefits of fulltime study with minimal intrusion into the new year.

Some firms/employers will prefer you to choose this option so that you will be both admitted to the bar and available for full time work at the earliest opportunity. If you are applying for positions in employment at the moment, you will be able to include in your c.v. that you will complete your professional legal training by early March.

11 March 2008 Company/commercial training electives

Trainees now have a choice for their Drafting Skills seminar, and can elect between:

  • a property and succession stream (which includes drafting documents and letters relating to property sharing and pre-nuptial agreements, deeds of family arrangement (settling disputes), sports law (sponsorship) and wills); and
  • a company and commercial stream (which includes drafting documents and letters relating to sports law (sponsorship), business acquisition and structures, company incorporation, due diligence, franchises, joint ventures and corporate financing).
The availability of this choice has been well received, and is offered in response to law firm and trainee requests.
